Mechanical
seals according to applications
(mixers, agitators etc.) incl. special mechanical seals |
| |
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
The
main emphasis of our program is on mechanical seals in special design
for applications with |
| |
- mixers
- agitators
- autoclaves
|
- kneaders
- filters
- homogenizers
|
- driers
- ball
mills
- and
others
|
|
| |
to
be applied in different branches of industry, such as pharmaceutics, chemical
industry, food processing industry, pulp and paper industry etc.
The following applications are examples, representing a large number of
further applications of CHETRA mechanical seals in process technology.

Aniline
(rotating filters) |
|
| |
This
application requires a mechanical seal specifically adapted to and integrated
into the aggregate (rotating filter) with special consideration given
to the toxic medium aniline. For this application, CHETRA developed the
"integral solution" as follows. |
| |
|
|
| 577 |
- multiple-acting
/ 2 x double-acting
- preassembled
cartridge mechanical seal ready for installation
- balanced
- independent
of direction of rotation
- multiple
springs (protected)
- stationary
design

| tmax: |

| vmax: |

Operation:
with higher barrier pressure and auxiliary cooling
The tested, "integral" ready-for-installation unit contains two double-acting,
stationary mechanical seals, shutdown- and intermediate seals as well
as the integrated bearing.
- special high-tech design features like "self-aligning" hard alloy seal
faces
- guided circulation flow, protection of the sealing elements most essential
for function, esp. seal face finish and seal face geometry are applied
Result: long-term mechanical seal for difficult operating conditions |

Butadiene/
bottom agitator |
| |
The
medium butadiene cures permanently elasticly. This means high expenditure
for cleaning in case of sealing problems.
For example, cleaning has to occur with water under 400 bar pressure.
Typical agitator diameters of the applications described are 120 mm (resp.
4 ¾") and 150 mm (resp. 6").
Besides the usual criteria which make very high service life desirable,
a service life of more than 3 years is required because of the size of
the plants and the resulting cost-intensive handling. |

Operation:
with higher barrier pressure / auxiliary flushing
Mechanical seal style 541 is designed in structure and material to resist
high load and to ensure long service life:
- double balance for increase safety
- optimized, guided barrier fluid flow for improved dissipation of heat
- "self-aligning" solid hard alloy seal faces - stationary design
- customized mechanical seal, which adapts itself to the existing aggregate
- simple installation / dismantling |

Filter
drier mechanical seal - conversion from packing |
| |
New
filter driers are almost exclusively equipped with mechanical seals. Even
so, many existing aggregates still run with (PTFE) stuffing box packings.
That means high maintenance and often the vacuum required is difficult
to obtain.
Therefore conversion from packing to mechanical seal is recommended, if
the plant meets the required standards otherwise.
Mechanical seal style 577 (sterile) meets the requirements of such a conversion
from packings and the corresponding demands of the mechanical seal. |
